Welcome back to Devin’s World for 2024, I hope you had a great holiday. I’m so glad you’re here and I hope you’ve had an excellent start to the year!

To kick off the year, I didn’t want to bore you by describing my goals and aspirations for 2024, but I thought I would instead write about a topic I’ve been thinking a lot about recently: consistency.

As I work towards finishing my university degree, publishing my books and beginning my career, I have been thinking about how to be successful. Most advice out there is vague and often underwhelming, but one concept that comes up every time is consistency. Pushing through when its tough and continuing to show up and do the things you need to succeed.

I think it was best summed up by this saying:

There are people with half your abilities are achieving twice as much.

I’m sure that you have heard some variation of that quote at least once before, but if this is your first time, take a moment to really think about it.

Previously, I found this quote to be incredibly annoying, but it has recently inspired a complete change in my attitude because it is right.

In many cases, there are average men and women all around the world who have accomplished incredible things, grown their wealth and now live amazing lives, all because they had the audacity to go out and get them.

Dear reader, please let this be a wakeup call to yourself as it was to me. I realised that playing it small and downplaying my skills and abilities was no longer going to work. It hadn’t brought me much success thus far, and so it wouldn’t change if I didn’t change.

I decided to stop worrying about what others might think, and start doing what I thought was fun, interesting, different, helpful.

I started a blog to share my thoughts and ideas, to build a readership of intelligent, thoughtful people. Now I have readers from all over the world who I get to communicate and connect with.

I got serious about publishing my book and put in the work to get it finished. The drafts that have been with me since I was young are now physical pages and a stunning cover!

I created an Instagram account for my book and started posting images and reels and ideas for other writers. The connections I’m making are important and will help me to become a better marketer and author!

None of these things are easy, and they take a lot of time and effort. However, it isn’t just about the quality of my posts or reels or images, its about showing up every day for the things I love. I want to be a best-selling author who writes good books, so I will keep working every day until I get there. Already I have seen improvement and growth, both in my stories and in myself.

I hope that this reminder will motivate you to begin building your own success, and I cannot wait to look back on this in a few years.
