If you find it hard to complete certain tasks in your life, don’t beat yourself up! In fact, most people have their own struggle-tasks that for whatever reason, they find it difficult to complete.
However, we don’t want to get stuck thinking that this is just how it is, or that we cannot change ourselves. If you’re interested in bettering yourself and working to overcome these problems, read on!
You need to think about what is actually stopping you from accomplishing the goal you desire. Once you can find the real issue, you can tackle that, and therefore get closer to achieving what you want.
I won’t lie and say that there is any kind of quick fix here, but there are ways you can improve your life if you give them the right time and energy.
So where can you start?
1 Stop shaming yourself for not being able to do something that everyone else seems to be able to do.
Remember, that while those around you might not struggle with making their bed daily like you, they may struggle to exercise the right amount. No one has got it all figured out, don’t stress.
2 Think about what you struggle with, then go deeper.
So you can’t make your bed each morning, or go for a walk each evening, or choose the healthier lunch option. Why not?
Is it because your bed is in an awkward place and you can’t reach the sides and then give up?
Is it because none of your workout gear fits, or you don’t know a route to walk along, or you don’t feel like walking after dinner?
Is it because you don’t give yourself a wide enough range of options to choose from, or perhaps you don’t like the taste?
Once you have a reason, big or small, you need to think about one way you can eliminate or change that issue.
For example, you might need to pull your bed away from the wall slightly, so you have enough space to fit down the side to tuck in your sheets.
Maybe you need to try walking in the morning, or investing in a new pair of pants to go for a walk in so you feel more confident.
Try making a healthy lunch and putting in the seasonings you like, or trying something new on the menu that is more aligned with the eating goals you have for yourself.
3 Lastly, evaluate your environment.
Are you giving yourself an environment where you can grow? Are you making things as easy for yourself as possible?
Our environments are incredibly important for our health and wellbeing, and they do inform our lifestyles. If you are not making your life easier in small ways by giving yourself better ways of doing things, and better options to choose from, you won’t be able to change.
Think about it: you can remove the unhealthy foods that distract you from your goals, by choosing not to buy them anymore.
You can make it easier to go for a walk or run each day by setting your workout gear in a prominent place, and by pre-selecting the route you will follow.
You can rearrange your room slightly to make it easier to reach the sides of your bed. Think smaller to make bigger changes.
We know that changing your environment can help change your life, I mean, a quick Google search comes up with millions of results from millions of people who have experienced the same things.
We can get so stuck in our ways, so try changing your scenery every once in a while. Rearrange your room and your house, go to a new cafe or park, talk to someone new and remember that you can change. You can live the life you want, you just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
