On the weekend, Mum asked me if I’d like to try a tiramisu cake from one of our favourite breakfast spots at Kith’n’Chow.
Now, if you know anything about me, you’ll know that after my trip to Italy last year, I’ve become a tiramisu-fiend. In January this year, we flew to Melbourne for a couple of days to watch the Australian Open and to celebrate my birthday. Instead of a cake, we went to the gorgeous QueenSt.BB and I got as much tiramisu as I could fit in that box. It was delicious.

Anyway, Mum is on this kick to get more ‘whimsy’ in her life, so this was the suggestion, an boy was it a good one.
Now we’ve been to Kith’n’Chow dozens of times over the years, because we love it so much. Their breakfast platters are amazing, and I can always recommend their spicy chicken waffles, coconut granola and avocado toast. As for drinks, you’ve got to try all their juices (though the pink juice is my favourite), and the mango cream smoothie is also a hit. The prices are great considering what you get too.
This day, however, we came with one goal in mind: tiramisu.
Initially, we planned to bring it home to eat, but they said you had to eat there so we settled in at one of the tables. At midday, the cute seating area was still pretty full of families and friends catching up for the day. It was surprisingly warm, so I was rather comfortable in my shorts and t-shirt, despite being winter. Queensland winters, hey?
We settled in and the food came out, looking amazing as always. I wish I’d taken some more pictures, but to be honest, none of it lasted long.

The tiramisu was delicious, light, and creamy. Mum bit right into an espresso bean, which was a little funny, but even she agreed it was one of the best desserts she’d had in a while.
We also bought a caramel banana cake, which was equally delicious. Although, it was difficult to top the tiramisu.
I ordered a mango cream smoothie and then we headed off, our little side quest complete. It was a good idea and took barely an hour altogether.
You see, this is the kind of mini adventure we all need to be doing more in our lives. Spur of the moment fun is key to keeping things interesting and shaking us out of our normal routines. For me, it also helped inspire this post, and drive me closer to my dreams of living like I’m on vacation all the time.
So, if you’re ever in Brisbane and looking for a cute breakfast stop to fuel your day, I’d highly recommend Kith’n’Chow. Let me know if you try it, and drop your own favourite breakfast spot!
