So I’m definitely late to the party on this one, but I finally made it out to Night Feast!

As I’ve written about plenty of times so far, I wanted to get out and try more things around Brisbane this year. I’ve had some busy weekends recently, and never got the chance to get to Night Feast until last night.

We decided to go that morning, and headed off a little after four to catch a CityCat to the Powerhouse. With the strikes going on, we were lucky to have been able to catch a ferry, as there weren’t any running earlier in the day. (Thank you to all the CityCat crew involved as always, and hopefully they can get their needs met soon).

The walk from the ferry terminal to the Powerhouse was chilly with the August winds rolling through, but it was otherwise pleasant. A popular area, there were plenty of people out exercising or enjoying the evening as the sun set. I mean, for all we complain about the cold, winter really isn’t that bad in Queensland. A jacket and jeans was all you needed to keep warm.

At the event, you walk through the entryway, which does throw up fire every two minutes—so be warned! It’s all safe, of course, but it does get the heart pumping when you aren’t expecting it.

The bar is immediately to the right, while the food stalls start to the left. There are so many choices, and all sorts of cuisines so there is no need to go hungry!

We did a big walk through first, to familiarise ourselves with all the options. Unfortunately, we reached the end and wondered how on earth we were supposed to choose! Deciding that there weren’t any bad options, we worked our way back to the front, ordering as we went.

Our Choices:

• Beef Birria Tacos & Tommy’s Margarita (Poca Madre Mexicana)
• Malloreddus al Ragu (Pilloni)
• Truffle Arancini (The 203)
• Sliced Brisket (Burn City Smokers)
• Churros (Poca Madre Mexicana)

These were all absolutely delicious, and I wish I had taken more pictures! Unfortunately, I was too busy eating everything to remember. I’ll have to work on my influencing abilities…

Honestly, I am considering going again next week, as there were a few places we missed. The bao buns at Wonderbao looked mouthwatering, while the Wagyu Beef Chow Mein (Central) seemed equally popular. Chicken Karage (Ruby, My Dear) is always delicious, and the line for the Filipino skewers from Hoy Pinoy was massive all night.

Altogether this was a fantastic night, and we left extremely satisfied. It ends next week, which is a shame, but I would love to see this remain year-round. I could totally imagine spending a cruisy summer night out there with a picnic blanket in the heat!
