Every year, Christmas presents a new opportunity to get an advent calendar to try. Now that I’m older, I’ve progressed past the need for the basic chocolate calendars I used to enjoy as a child. My tastes are a little more expensive, and when there are such great options out there, why wouldn’t you give them a go?

This year, I’ve got my eye on a few different ones that I think are worth the money. Read on to get some inspiration for yourself, or for the other women in your life you’d like to spoil! There are four advent calendars I highly recommend, as well as a few other goodies that are on the cheaper side if the calendars are too much for now.

The Body Shop

Starting the list is the Classic Beauty Advent Calendar from The Body Shop. Valued at $99, this 24-day calendar will keep you stocked all year—it certainly has for me. My family and I got one of these each last year,and we had a blast opening them each day and enjoying the new products.

I don’t always shop here, so I was able to try out a few different items that I wouldn’t normally buy, including the Shea shampoo and conditioner set. These were great for travel, and kept my frizzy hair surprisingly moisturised and soft.

Jurlique

Next on the list is Jurlique‘s 24-day Advent Calendar. Costing $220, it is valued around $460 and contains dozens of Jurlique’s skincare products.

Proclaimed ‘pioneers of holistic and conscious beauty’, Jurlique is a luxury brand so many of their products are on the smaller side. You won’t be using much of these each time, so they should last a while, but most products sit around the 5-10mL mark.

You’re paying for the quality and care more than anything, but I think this is a great way to sample some of their best products to see if there is anything you would like to invest in long-term. Skincare bundles are great for people of pretty much all ages, and there will be something in there for everyone!

Good for: women of all ages!

L’Occitane

Keeping with the skincare theme, L’Occitane also has a Deluxe Beauty Advent Calendar out this year. This $325 box is valued at $540, and has 24 goodies to keep you occupied all month.

The sizes are decent, with a couple of full-size products, and plenty of other samples that will keep you in good stead throughout the year. Like the Charlotte Tilbury option, the packaging for this box is also stunning, which adds to the fun of it all!

My family are big L’Occitane lovers, and these luxury French goods smell divine and leave your skin feeling amazing. I can’t wait for our package to arrive!

Good for: women of all ages!

Charlotte Tilbury

Charlotte Tilbury is one of those brands that always comes out with a bang in the holiday season. While this kit is smaller than previous years, it’s still a great find. There are plenty of full-sized products, as well as travel versions of the other items that you’re less likely to try.

Charlotte’s Hollywood Beauty Wonderland Advent Calendar is priced at $331 AUD, but is worth around $625. After working at Mecca a little while ago, I saw first hand how high-quality and beloved Charlotte Tilbury’s products are. My only concern is that while there is an array of the types of products, the shade range is less impressive.

It’s a known issue, especially in Australia, which doesn’t make it right! This kit does include some pale shades in the lip liner and lipstick, as well as plenty of skincare products that anyone can use. I do think that brands as big and well-loved as Charlotte’s could definitely look at doing the same advent calendar with at least two options for shades in future. In the meantime, this is still a good option, though there are so many others too!

Good for: women who love makeup!

Lush

Would any holiday advent calendar list be complete without a mention of Lush? This year’s pack is expensive, but worth the price by the looks of things!

The Lush Advent Calendar is available now for pre-order through the app, and what a package! This calendar contains 25 products, including multiple full-size items and plenty of gift exclusive options too.

Now, this one is the most expensive on this list, coming in at $425, and it doesn’t have a number for how much it is valued at. However this is chock-full of amazing products that anyone and everyone will love. My family and I were considering getting this one to share amongst us too, so it doesn’t have to be just for one person. I also like Lush because of their relentless dedication to top values like being environmentally-friendly, cruelty free, and their constant support for LGBTQ+ rights.

Additionally, if $425 is just too much for you to consider, especially these days as we’re all feeling the squeeze, they also have another calendar you could try. The 29½ High Street Advent Calendar for $270 is a bath treat special that is also full of goodies. I personally don’t have baths that often, but if you do enjoy it, then this is a great option as well!

Good for: young girls and women, but all ages can enjoy this

Honourable Mentions

None of those suit? No worries, there are always other options out there, especially for the younger women in your life.

Benefit Cosmetics has plenty of smaller holiday packs that can still bring a little pre-Christmas joy! Good for: young women and girls.

Sol de Janeiro is another must-see option, with holiday bundles of all sizes and scent options. At Mecca these were easily our best-seller throughout the Christmas period. This Beija Flor™ Jet Set ($56) is always a winner! Good for: young women and girls.

Glow Recipe has a ‘Glow Tinis‘ set ($62)which includes some of their absolute best-selling skincare products. These flew off the shelves throughout the year, so this pack will be huge this holiday season. Good for: women of all ages.

Laneige is still having it’s moment, and my sister was obsessed with their things last year. I got her this mini set for a stocking stuffer and she absolutely adored it! They do also have a 12-day Advent Calendar for $255 but I didn’t think it was as good value as the others! Good for: women of all ages.

Olaplex also has a ‘Full on Shine’ gift pack for $119 with a selection of some of their very best hair care products. This is not always a winner, as people can be very particular about their hair. However, Olaplex is known for their quality and lab-perfected chemical profiles. Good for: women of all ages, not recommended for young girls.

What are you going to get?

Now, some of these are on the pricier side, but I do believe they are worth it. Many of these are valued much higher, so you’re definitely getting the full ‘bang for your buck’. As yet, I’m still not sure which of these I’m going to choose, but the options are great. They last quite a while too, and I’m still using up the soaps and goodies from my calendar last year from The Body Shop!
